Rana Daggubati moves on from Baby to Baahubali

It is a known fact that Rana Daggubati had shot for a staggering 120 days when it came to canning a war sequence of biggest film ever coming out from South - Baahubali. However, if one thought that the actor is done with the film's shoot then that is far from being true. In fact, he would be back on location for the Tamil, Telugu, Hindi trilingual which has over 100 days of shoot still remaining to be canned.

"Baahubali is inarguably the most massive film ever to be made not just in South but in India as well. Director S. S. Rajamouli is making a magnum opus here and has already given three years to the film," informs our source, "After Sudeep starrer Eega (2012), he has been concentrating entirely on Baahubali which features Prabhas, Rana, Anushka Shetty and Tamannaah Bhatia in principle roles. A staggering 280 days of shooting has already taken place out of which 120 days were spent just on the war sequence."

While this breaks the record of other war films like Rajamouli's own Magadheera, Ashutosh Gowariker's Jodhaa Akbar and Anil Sharma's Veer, there are more surprises in store. The film is actually being made as a two part film, as a result of which the cast would need to come together for at least 100 more days.

"Yes, the combined duration of both parts is five hours." the source adds, "While Part I would arrive this Summer, Part II would be hitting the screens in 2016. The film is about two brothers, played by Prabhas and Rana, who are fighting for their kingdom."

Such extensive plans mean that Rana would be continuing his action stint after his gruelling action packed schedules in his recent release Baby. While Rana has been appreciated for his supporting part where his bulky self added on to the frames of the Akshay Kumar starrer, it is apparent that he would be required to maintain his 'hulk' persona at least till the end of this year.

"Yes, the film is on another scale altogether," says Rana, "The film requires me to maintain a certain look, hair, body build and all for months at stretch. Due to this I have to be choosy about the films I do. I did Baby, which was fantastic, but then had to opt out of One Night Stand (with Sunny Leone). While I would be doing Nia with Bipasha (Basu) soon, I would also be resuming shoot for Baahubali."

The makers of Baahubali are promising a visual treat in the offing for this rare two part film (last to arrive was Anurag Kashyap's Gangs of Wasseypur). Also, even though there was obvious temptation to make it a 3D affair, a conscious decision has also been taken by the makers to bring the film in 2D.
